Kerri and Chris’ Malibu Blu Cocktail
Kerri and Chris’s Rochester Riverside wedding was full of fun surprises, including sparklers, garbage plates (google it!), and fireworks. Chris is actually colorblind, so he and Kerri picked out a vibrant Malibu Blue and silver color scheme. We purchased paper supplies from Paper and More to create a layered wedding invitation with a silver swirl backing card and bright blue accents. Photography by Ryan Stark.
The Invite:
• Layered 5x7 invitation with silver swirl backing card, 4.75x6.75 Pool Blue mat, 4.5x6.5 white invitation card, and Pool Blue belly band
• Double-sided 4x6 RSVP printed on heavy card stock
• A7 envelope in Pool Blue
Funny Story…
Kerri’s bridesmaids were living all around the country, so for simplicity, she decided to get her gown and the bridesmaids dresses at David’s Bridal. On the morning of the wedding, I was hanging my gown up by the door, when my friend and co-bridesmaid, Jen, walked by.
”Is that the color of your dress?” she asked.
”Ummm, yeah. Why?”
”Mine is a different color…”
The MOH and Kerri’s sister told her what happened, and we spent our ride to the venue on the phone with the David’s Bridal in Tennessee and the local one in Rochester, trying to find a solution. Unfortunately, there was little to be done, so Jen rocked the dark blue dress like a queen and we all had an amazing day.
The Cocktail:
• Blumond Blue Prosecco*
• Silver edible flakes
• Blue Raspberry pop rocks
• Optional Blue Curaçao for Jen’s cocktail
Recipe:
Rinse out a champagne glass and pat the inside with a paper towel. You want the inside of the glass damp, but not wet. Tilt the glass down over your sink and gently shake silver edible flakes into the glass while rotating it. The flakes should stick to the inside of the glass, creating a decorative pattern. Chill the glass to set. Once flakes are chilled in place, rim the glass with pop rocks. When ready to serve, pour the Blumond Prosecco into the glass!
To create Jen’s special dark blue cocktail, add some Blue Curaçao before adding the Blumond.
*If Blumond Prosecco is unavailable, you can just mix Prosecco and Blue Curaçao.
