Jen and Travis’ Disney Dole Whip Float
I first met Jen and Travis when we worked together on campus at RIT. This year they celebrated ten years married and wanted to renew their vows with a very magical ceremony at Disney World. They invited their closest friends and family for a fun-filled week including drinking around the world at Epcot, cocktails and dinners at Disney Springs, and ending with a beautiful ceremony at the Polynesian Resort followed by dinner, cocktails and fireworks at the California Grill. Jen and Travis officiated their own ceremony and we all scored some delicious Dole Whip afterward. Their reception was small and intimate. Jen and Travis took the time to individually thank every guest during toasts, and we all enjoyed Magic Kingdom fireworks from the privacy of our own balcony. Their invitation was inspired by vintage Disney ticket books, and we used a shimmery paper to add a touch of magic. For the envelope liner, Jen and Travis selected one of their favorite Disney photos — the two of them holding a paper lantern from the movie Tangled. All paper and printing was done with Cards and Pockets. Photography by Root Weddings.
The Invite:
• 5x7 Ticket Book Invitation with 5 pages printed on shimmery paper
• 5x7 detachable RSVP postcard
• A7 envelope with custom liner
The Cocktail:
• 2 lbs. Frozen Pineapple
• 6 oz. Pineapple Juice
• 1 Big Scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream
• Prosecco
Blend frozen pineapple, juice and ice cream together until smooth. Using a pastry bag, pipe the mixture into a glass (or, if you’re clumsy like me, scoop it in). Top with Prosecco and enjoy!
Faith, trust, and pixie dust…
Not gonna lie, this invite was a pretty tricky one to figure out. It involved a few hours of creating mock-ups, cutting, and troubleshooting.
But these invites are some of my favorites I’ve designed so far. Take a look at the process below.
